The Armor Metal Group is a generalized metal fabricator with manufacturing facilities in Madison, Indiana, and Cincinnati, Hamilton, and Sharonville, Ohio. Armor Metal specializes in weldments from small "tabletop" work to large fabrications (14' high x 14' wide x 40' long, up to 20,000 lbs.). The 155,000 sf Armor Metal facility in Madison employs 96 people and fabricates military and industrial reusable shipping containers.
Established in 1986, Arvin Sango (ASI) is a joint venture of EMCON Technologies and Sango Company Limited of Aichi-Ken, Japan. Arvin Sango's main products include Exhaust System Assemblies, Instrument Panel Reinforcement Subassemblies, Body Panel Stampings, Side Door Impact Beams, and Tubular Manifolds for the automotive industry. ASI has had seven plant expansions since locating in Madison in 1987. ASI currently employs 736 members.
On January 4, 1999, Robert P. Pfautz, President and Chief Operating Officer of Century Tube Corporation, announced that the Company would locate a 200,000 sf facility in Madison to manufacture steel tube products for the automotive industry, including: safety door impact beams, auto exhaust pipe and auto block mechanical tubing. Pfautz stated, "Madison's central location in the hub of the expanding U.S. auto industry improves our competitive posture by allowing us to provide better and quicker service to our growing list of customers." Century Tube employs 133 people.
Established in 1961, Clifty Engineering can manage every type of tooling project -- special machinery, transfer tooling and reverse engineering, from design, detail and build, through final inspection. In addition to being a full-service tool and die shop, they have one of the finest Wire EDM facilities in the region. Clifty Engineering employs 88 and offers a comprehensive apprenticeship program.
Grote Industries has made the nation's highways safe with its lighting components, turn signals, back-up alarms, reflectors, mirrors, etc. Founded in 1901 by William Grote, Grote Industries moved its World Headquarters to Madison in 1960. Grote Industries has received numerous awards for their commitment to customers and their excellence in design and quality components. They employ 609 workers.
The Indiana-Kentucky Electric Corporation's (IKEC), a wholly owned subsidary of the Ohio Valley Electric Corporation (OVEC), was organized on October 1, 1952. OVEC and IKEC were formed by several investor-owned utilities furnishing electric service in the Ohio River Valley area. IKEC's Clifty Creek Plant began commercial operation in 1955 and has a nameplate generating capacity of 1,303,560 kilowatts. Its 345,000 volt transmission lines interconnect with the major transmission networks of several of the utilities serving the area. IKEC remains a steady employer for the region and currently employs 360. The Clifty Creek Plant is committed to protecting the environment while producing low-cost, reliable electric energy.
Established in 1947, Madison Chemical Company manufacturers over 1,300 formulae for a variety of industries, including metal processing, food processing, transportation, paper manufacturing, and water treatment. Madison Chemical obtained the ISO 9001 Quality Certificate of Registration in 1995.
Madison Precision Products (MPP), a subsidiary of the METTS Corporation of Saitama, Japan, completed construction of a 60,000 sf manufacturing facility in Jefferson County in 1988. Using the most advanced production methods and machining technology available, MPP casts and machines high-quality aluminum parts for the automotive industry. MPP has had five plant expansions since 1988 and currently employs over 500 Associates. MPP is ISO 9002 Registered.
Established in 1927, Meese Orbitron Dunne Company (MOD) has expanded and diversified over the years into custom molding and thermo-forming, while maintaining capabilities in textile sewing, wire forming and sheet metal fabrication. MOD operates four plants across the country with Madison being the largest. They are involved in various markets including: Agricultural Tanks, Secondary Containment Units, Instrument Cases, Recycling Containers, Laundry Trucks, and Nuclear Waste Containment Tanks. They employ 85.
Midwest Tube Mills, founded by Rick Russell, produces electric welded tubing for agricultural fencing, lawn and patio furniture, and related fields. Midwest employs 86 Associates.
Since 1971, the Robus Leather Corporation has provided an economical alternative to genuine leather by using recycled scrap leather that would otherwise end up in landfills. Robus is the only manufacturer of bonded leather in the United States. Products include shoes, apparel, home furnishings, wall/floor coverings, sporting equipment, upholstery and interior trim for vehicles with 49 employees.
Established in 1925, Rotary Lift revolutionized the industry when it built the world's first hydraulic automotive lift. Rotary opened its Madison facility in 1955 and relocated its World Headquarters to Madison in 1996 and currently has 422 employees. Today, Rotary produces over 100 different models of surface and inground lifts and is the only North American lift manufacturer certified to the ISO 9001 standard.
